Launch animation · 2026
OSHEE were launching Wholenut, a new bar line, and needed animation to carry the launch. The concept came from another agency. Our part was to build the product and produce the film, adjusting the concept where it needed to fit timing and what was actually achievable in the shot.
Food is the hardest thing to render convincingly, and a nut bar is close to the worst case. Chocolate has to move like chocolate, thick and slow, catching light on the surface as it falls. Nuts have to sit in the bar the way nuts actually sit, packed unevenly and pressed against each other, which is almost impossible to fake by placing them one at a time. Get either wrong and it reads as plastic.
The chocolate pour was simulated in Liquigen, which we brought into the pipeline for this project, giving us fluid behaviour that held up in close up without the render times a full simulation would normally cost.
For the bar itself we did not arrange nuts on a surface by hand. Several hundred nut models were dropped into the bar form using rigid body simulation, colliding and settling the way they would on a production line. That is what stops the packing from looking deliberate, and it is the difference between reading as food and reading as a render.
Delivered across three SKUs in 16:9, 9:16 and 1:1.

Outcome
The launch film ran across OSHEE's social channels and in cinemas as pre roll advertising before feature films, supporting all three SKUs in the Wholenut line.
